Finderrance fights daily against poverty and lack of education in the remote villages of Côte d’Ivoire. Created in 2016, Finderrance is a humanitarian association which operates in Côte d’Ivoire, more particularly in the Lagunes and Gôh region, around Gagnoa. We are particularly active in the villages of Kokouezo, Tiepa, Ouragahio, Bahiekou, Broudoume, Kpapekou and Bayôta. We help orphans, widows and the poor.
Our main missions are education, food security and health. We provide assistance to orphans by funding their education and following their development. We provide for the food needs of the orphans we care for. We also help widows to create market activities so that they are financially independent. Finderrance’s actions are at the heart of the needs of Côte d’Ivoire, which 10 years ago was badly shaken by political conflicts. These have amplified the already existing evils.
Already in 2002, the founders of Finderrance, passing through Gagnoa in the Ivory Coast, had noticed that a significant number of orphans were dropping out of school for lack of financial means. Widows, on the other hand, were left abandoned after the loss of their husbands, usually the main source of finance for their families. The project to create an association which would help this population was born.
Settled then in France, from afar, the founders of the association financially help the orphans whose needs they had identified during their trip.
In 2007, they moved to Abidjan. Back in their country of origin and saddened by the growing number of children wandering the streets, they decided to take action on their scale. Every Friday, they cook in large quantities to distribute meals in the most deprived areas of Abidjan. For some it was their only meal of the day. In parallel, they finance the education of several orphans living in Tiepa.
With this association project at heart, six years after the Ivorian political war turned their lives upside down, they decided to formally create Finderrance. In 2017, they organized the first return of orphans supported by the association.
Our goal goes further than providing financial support to orphans and widows in remote villages in Côte d’Ivoire. We want to create a self-sufficient community through agriculture in these villages. The funds raised can be used to equip schools in the villages and build structures for access to drinking water.
